妮可（安妮特·貝寧飾演）和朱爾斯（朱麗安·摩爾飾演）是一對女同性戀，他們相處了很長的時間，而且她們有能力面對著所有的人生中的高高低低。妮可有一份壓力很大的工作，這種壓力常常使得她忽視了朱爾斯的生活。朱爾斯覺得自己總是受困于母親的角色，于是她決定要開一家屬于自己的花店。可是妮可卻對這種事情毫無手段。

影片參加了2010年的圣丹斯電影節(jié)，并且在電影節(jié)上找到了買家。影片的發(fā)行版權(quán)以480萬美元的價格被焦點影業(yè)買走，成為了這屆圣丹斯上最值錢的電影。
