樂隊發行了5張都堪稱經典的專輯之后，開始了幾乎是史上最大規模的巡演！32個國家，322天，演出192場，用去6392根吉他弦，3760根鼓槌，3008個吉他撥片。這些都是網上給出的統計數據，看上去簡直不可思議，但是這的的確確發生在Iron Maiden身上！樂隊長達11個月的世界巡演被整理收錄在了1985年的雙張現場《Live After Death》當中。迄今為止，《Live After Death》被認為是Iron Maiden最有代表性的現場專輯之一。

由于有前5張專輯中那么多優秀的歌可供選擇，所以專輯中的歌幾乎都是經典曲目！精良的錄音條件和出色的錄音技術，樂隊成員幾乎完美的技術發揮，現場歌迷的狂熱支持等各個方面的造就了這張經典的現場專輯。其實有一個現象很值得注意，那些NWOBHM樂隊所出的第一張現場專輯幾乎都是經典之作。其中包括：Judas Priest的《Unleashed in The East》，Deep Purple的《Made In Japan》，Saxon的《The Eagle Has Landed》。這和現在很多樂隊連一張象樣的現場專輯都拿不出來，有很大的差異。
