無論在哪個(gè)國(guó)家，Iron Maiden這個(gè)偉大的名字在重金屬樂迷當(dāng)中都是家喻戶曉的。在過去的20多年當(dāng)中，Iron Maiden始終都是最杰出的金屬樂隊(duì)之一，同時(shí)，無數(shù)的后輩樂隊(duì)在成長(zhǎng)的過程中也都受到了Iron Maiden音樂的影響。此外，Iron Maiden還是最早被稱為“British metal”的樂隊(duì)之一。與黑色安息日（Black Sabbath），齊柏林飛艇（Led Zeppelin）和猶大圣徒（Judas Priest）一樣，Iron Maiden也是英國(guó)重金屬音樂歷史上最具代表性的樂隊(duì)之一。

1976年，Iron Maiden最初由貝斯手史蒂夫·哈里斯（Steve Harris）組建，而當(dāng)時(shí)樂隊(duì)的其他成員為吉他手Tony Parsons，鼓手Doug Sampson和主唱Paul Di'Anno。在與唱片公司正式簽約之前，Iron Maiden一直都在倫敦當(dāng)?shù)夭煌５难莩觯瑯逢?duì)的歌曲在當(dāng)?shù)氐碾娕_(tái)中非常受歡迎。1981年，Iron Maiden的第二張專輯《Killers》面世，曲風(fēng)更加硬朗。在這張專輯中，阿德里安·史密斯（Adrian Smith）代替了Dennis Stratton，出任Iron Maiden的新吉他手。而由于嚴(yán)重的酗酒，主唱Paul Di'Anno也在《Killers》專輯面世之后被迫離開了樂隊(duì)。
