本片講述的是，一個名叫理查的年輕劇作家在一次劇作演出大獲成功后的答謝宴會上，意外遇上了一位他此前從未見過的、白發蒼蒼的老婦人，她強行塞給他一只精美絕倫的古董金表，然后對他說了一句讓他當時極為莫名其妙的話：“回到我身邊來！”
八年后，理查終于發現，原來他和那個已于八年前的當晚過世的老婦人，實實在在地有著千絲萬縷的聯系，于是他最終決定，放棄現代文明的高科技生活，心甘情愿地選擇了時光倒流七十年，與那七十年前的老婦人相遇……
