這部由HBO投資、湯姆·漢克斯和史蒂芬·斯皮爾伯格共同打造的所謂「二戰(zhàn)史詩巨作」近日正式對外公布。這將是《兄弟連》（Band of Brothers）以來最大規(guī)模的戰(zhàn)爭類型電視劇（電視迷你劇）。

據(jù)有關報道，該劇總投資達到2億美元。即便《魔戒》三部曲電影，也只花了不到3億美元。如果報道屬實，《太平洋戰(zhàn)爭》將成為電視史上投資最大的電視節(jié)目（短期內(nèi)應該「后無來者」）。

《太平洋戰(zhàn)爭》主要根據(jù)《With the Old Breed》、《Helmet for My Pillow》這兩本書提供的素材及一些訪談錄改編。故事從三個不同角度，講述了三名美國海軍陸戰(zhàn)隊士兵－－Robert Leckie（James Badge Dale扮演）、Eugene Sledge（Joe Mazzello扮演）、John Basilone（Jon Seda）－－在太平洋戰(zhàn)場上的遭遇。

劇中描述的主要戰(zhàn)役包括：1942年8月－1943年2月發(fā)生的瓜達爾卡納爾島戰(zhàn)役；1943年11月－1944年3月發(fā)生的布干維爾島戰(zhàn)役，特別是1943年11月格洛斯特角登陸戰(zhàn)及熱帶叢林戰(zhàn)役；1944年發(fā)生的貝里琉島爭奪戰(zhàn)；1945年2月16日－3月26日發(fā)生的硫磺島戰(zhàn)役；1945年4月1日－6月21日發(fā)生的沖繩島戰(zhàn)役。
